The canine costumed contest categories are: most
humorous, most original, owner/dog duo, spookiest. There
is also a Briargate Retailer Costume category which is
limited to Briargate retailers.

One winner will be chosen in each category. The
winner from each category will go on to compete for the
grand prize.
3.
The grand prize winner, Best in Show, will be
chosen from the 5 finalist by the panel of judges and
awarded the grand prize valued at more than $2,000. The
remaining 4 finalist will be awarded a prize basket.
4.
Each animal may wear only one costume. No
multiple entries allowed.
5.
Safe Place board members and their family members
are not eligible to win a prize.
6.
Any costume which in the opinion of the event
chairperson is considered offensive or in poor taste for
a family event will be excused from the event.
7.
No dangerous or potentially dangerous props will
be allowed. No confetti, pyrotechnics, live flame or
smoke generators will be allowed.
8.
No electrical power connections are allowed. Any
costume requiring power must be self contained as part
of the costume.
9.
Entrance in the contest and/or acceptance of
prize offered constitutes permission to use the winner’s
name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and
promotion without further compensation permitted by law.
Safe Place reserves the right to use photos of entrants
for promotional purposes in print, web sites or other
media.
10.
By accepting the prize, the winner(s) agree(s) to
release and hold sponsors harmless from any and all
losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind
resulting from acceptance, possessions, or use of any
prize, including without limitation, personal injuries
and property damage. By participating in this contest,
participants agree to be bound by all Official Rules of
this contest. Taxes on prizes, if any, are solely the
responsibility of the winner(s).
11.
Costumed contest participants will be judged by a
community panel of judges. All decisions are final.
