Adoption Announcement – 10/19/2018

Hi everyone — I’m Abby and I just wanted to share that I have a wonderful new family and home!  As a brief reminder, I’m a very sweet 12-ish year old Border Collie who came to Safe Place for Pets in August after my Dad passed away and my Mom was too ill to care for me.  I was a bit scared and shy at first, but my new Mom and Dad are so loving and wonderful — they are really spoiling me!  They have acreage for me to run on and explore, and my favorite places to lie in the house include the sofa and in front of the amazing fireplace!  They also love to take me with them in the car and we recently went to Lake Deweese, which was a blast!  We’ve also been to Denver and stayed with family, and we’ve had family with doggy friends stay with us it’s been so active and so much fun!  I am incredibly grateful to my previous family for all the care they gave me, and for knowing when it was time to call Safe Place for Pets to find me a safe and loving new home!

Safe Place for Pets would like to thank Fourmile Veterinary Clinic in Canon City for Abby’s wonderful dental care!  Abby also wanted to thank the thoughtful volunteers that made her snuggly fleece blanket because it’s the perfect time of year to “snuggle with the snuggly”!!  😊  Everyone at Safe Place for Pets wishes Abby and her new family many incredible adventures together!

Adoption Bio – 8/17/2018

Hello, I’m Abby!  I’m a very pretty and sweet 12-ish year old female/spayed Border Collie/Lab mix and I weigh about 45 lbs.  I’m a bit shy at first, but I’ll warm up and become your friend very quickly.  If someone is outside, I’ll bark to alert you, but I quiet down nicely if you invite them into the house.  I like having my family around, but I’m not a lap dog and won’t be under your feet every second, which I’m told some people prefer.  Sleeping on the floor next to your bed is perfectly fine with me — unless there’s a scary thunderstorm and then I might jump in bed with you!

Though I’m part Border Collie, I’m a very calm and relaxed girl, and have never really cared for balls or frisbees.  I have enjoyed walks, but haven’t been on many recently with my owners being so ill so that might be a fun thing for us to do together.  I am well behaved in the house and I’m used to having someone home a lot so that is my preference.  I currently live with another dog and a cat and do fine with them, but my family thinks I’d be fine as an only dog.  I like kids, but might be best around ones that are more laid back, like me.

Abby is such a loving and well-mannered girl.  If you think she might make a great addition to your home, please call Safe Place for Pets at 719-359-0201, email us at info@safeplacepets.org or fill out an Adoption Inquiry form under my profile.  Abby hopes to meet you soon!!
