Meet Annie

Adoption Announcement – 11/15/2016

Little Orphan Annie is an orphan no longer!

She and Uncle Bud have adopted each other. Uncle Bud, a 95-year-old gentleman who lives alone with his caretaker, has always said that he is never really alone as long as there is a cat in the house. So when his niece adopted his former cat (Dexter II) when Dexter developed diabetes, she set about finding another cat to keep him company. She and her husband came by the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center and fell in love with Annie’s beauty and sweet personality. They decided that she would be perfect for Uncle Bud, so home she went with them! Annie is a bit of a shy girl, so it took some time and patience before she began to come out and feel at home, but she has come along beautifully. Uncle Bud says that she loves to lie in the morning patch of sunlight in the living room. She also adores being brushed, and will roll over on her back so that she can have her tummy brushed and rubbed. Tam says that she gets an enormous kick out of seeing her 95 (96 in December!) year-old uncle on the floor brushing “Dexter III” as Annie has been renamed. How wonderful it is that Little Orphan Annie and Uncle Bud can make each other happy!

Many thanks to Annie’s surrenderers for trusting Safe Place for Pets with this wonderful cat and to her adopter’s for their incredibly generous donation! We are truly blessed by such wonderful people. Thank you as well to Cook Animal Hospital (a Safe Place for Pets veterinary partner) for ensuring Annie’s good health and her readiness for her new home. And thank you to our Safe Place volunteers for the Snuggly blanket that Annie is already enjoying.

Adoption Bio – 9/13/2016

Hi! My name is “Little Orphan” Annie or just plain Annie, and I am a gorgeous 3-year-old spayed tortoiseshell lady with claws. My medium-length fur is beautifully marked and the lady who brought me to Safe Place for Pets thinks my face makes me look like an owl! My human mom died recently, and my friend Rain and I were alone in her apartment for a short time after. I never dreamed that this would happen to us and I’m so confused and frightened that I don’t know what to do! I loved my mom so much. I used to lie on her lap and let her pet and brush me. I loved that! I’d also sleep with her. It was so nice and now everything in my world has been turned upside down. Now I need a new furrever home, and someone to love me and help me feel safe again. You can visit me at the Safe Place cattery.
