Adoption Announcement – 8/26/2017

Hello, it’s me, Bonnie, and I’m so excited to tell you about my new forever home

and the best part is…it’s with my sister cat, Sue Ellen! You may have heard Sue Ellen’s story recently so I’ll try not to repeat it, but she and I have been on a journey for sure!  Sue Ellen and I lived together in Cascade with our wonderful mom who could no longer keep us due to her illness.  Sue Ellen and I used to go in and out of the doggie door and we had fun exploring our yard together so when it was time for us to move away from our home, we had no idea we might be together again one day!  I went to stay with a loving foster for a few days and Sue Ellen went to the Safe Place Welcome Center, where the cats live.  Our new mom – also named Bonnie and who was also a nurse just like our other mom! — fell in love with me and then when she heard I had a sister named Sue Ellen, she went to meet her and wanted us to live together as one happy family!  When Sue Ellen and I saw one another, we were both so excited – Sue Ellen came out of the cat carrier and we touched noses and she rubbed against me, which made our new mom cry tears of joy!

Because my mom is also named Bonnie, she now calls me “Bonnie Lass” or just “Lass” for short because I look just like Lassie and I’m Scottish, after all!  Mom, Sue Ellen and I all sleep together and each morning, after Sue Ellen and I have a chase session through the house, mom and I go for a long walk around the neighborhood.  I have met so many nice neighbors and their dogs and though I wasn’t used to very many people at first, mom says I’m doing better and making new friends every day!  During our walks, mom creates sweet little songs about me and sings them with a Scottish accent, which I love!  I also love to lie on the rug next to her while she plays piano – she plays so beautifully!  When it’s time for her to work in our beautiful yard, mom takes me out and ensures I have shade and water and I just watch her going round and round on her riding mower – it’s so much fun!  Sue Ellen and I are so blessed to have such an amazing mom who loves us so much and wants to honor our mom by caring for us both and keeping us together forever!

Safe Place for Pets is very grateful to Bonnie’s wonderful foster, Jessica, and to Buxton Veterinary Hospital (Safe Place for Pets vet partner) for their excellent veterinary/dental care!  Thank you also to the volunteers for the snuggly fleece blanket – mom says red is the Lass’ color and we have to agree!  Everyone at Safe Place for Pets wishes the Bonnies and Sue Ellen an incredible life together!!
