Meet Dodge:

Adoption Announcement – 10/30/2017

Hi, I’m Dodge, the 7 year old border collie mix, who was looking for my new home and family. It didn’t take long to find me the perfect home. I have a new mom, dad, brother cat, and almost twin brother dog. My mom likes to call us her book ends. My mom and dad have 8 acres of fenced in yard, and I’m enjoying exploring them with my brother. I recently got to chase a bunny and I also accidentally took a dip in dad’s swimming pool. I was checking it out and got a little too close. I look forward to taking a swim again. Mom and dad let me sleep in bed with them, and boy, I love that! Ocean keeps a watchful eye on us from his couch. It’s comforting to have someone watching over us.

My original mom was happy to hear that I was on a pre-adoption visit, and sadly died a few days later. My new mom and dad are thrilled to have me and I’m thrilled to have found them, my almost twin Ocean, and bother cat Eli. I’ve had a lot of new experiences since I met my new family. I’ve learned to use a doggie door, I’ve chased a bunny, I took a dip in dad’s swimming pool, and I went to Big R and the bank. Mom and dad like to take us places, and I look forward to what the rest of my new life will bring me.

Safe Place wishes Dodge, now named O-Dodge, or Dodgy, a wonderful rest of his life with his new family. His adoptive parents, Deb and Greg, love border collies, and all have had names starting with and O. They lost their boy Oscar, who they called the Artful Dodger 2 years ago. While Dodge is not Oscar, he does resemble him, and the name Dodge and Oscar’s nickname are a unique coincidence.

Adoption Bio – 10/5/2017

Hi, I’m Dodge!

I’m a 7 year old Border Collie mix who is 52 pounds.

I’m a sweet boy who is looking for a quiet home.  My mom is sick and won’t be able to care for me, my cat friend, and my older dog friend.  She has moved in with her daughter to get the care she needs.  My dog friend and I have moved too.  The house is pretty crowded with all the humans and pets.  My cat friend has found a new home.  My dog friend is older, so she will stay with my aunt, but I need a new home.

I’m looking for someone who is looking for me…a quiet, calm guy.  I like to be indoors, curled up, and relaxing near you. I’m good with cats, and other dogs.  I like to play a little with a rope or ball.  I’m good at retrieving the ball, but I like to keep it after that.  So throw it once, and we may be done.  I’ll entertain myself for a while after that.   I don’t need a lot of exercise, just a lot of love and affection.   I’m used to a back yard, so if you have one of those, that will be great.

I’ve been on a few walks, and I’m Ok once we get going.  I’m a little timid when I start, as it’s not something I’ve done a lot. Something I like to do thought, is give you a hug, if you need one.   Just ask, and I’ll put my head on your shoulder and neck and give you my version of a hug.   You’ll love it!

Please contact Safe Place for Pets for more information on meet, and to meet me.   I’ve got lots of life and love left to give someone.  Could you be the one to receive me?  Please contact Safe Place by phone at 719-359-0201 or email info@safeplacepets.org.
