Adoption Date: 12/22/2017
Intake Date: 5/26/2017
This is Jesse, and it’s about time that I give you an update on my life. We cats should never think outside the box, but I am so happy that my new mom and dad decided to do just that! Instead of their usual rescue adoptions of Maine Coons and Maine Coon mixes over the years, they adopted a quite lovely all-black, short-haired girl with gorgeous green eyes—me!
My new mom and dad adopted Cathy, my housemate sister, from Safe Place for Pets last summer. They were drawn to her because she is a Maine Coon mix, and she has turned out to be the perfect addition to their family. When they decided last fall to find a friend for Cathy, their first stop was Safe Place for Pets. There were no Maine Coon type cats needing new forever homes, but I was there. Since their primary concern was for Cathy and their new addition to be a good fit for each other, they really liked that Cathy and I lived together in our prior home. And they also liked my sweet, affectionate personality. So off I went with them to reunite with Cathy and try out my new home in the Denver area!
And I have not looked back! It was great to be with Cathy again, as well as have the love, affection, and attention of my new mom and dad. I don’t even remember needing an adjustment period to get used to my new home and family. With Cathy there, it seemed like home right away and where one of us is, the other is there, too. My new mom and dad are wonderful, and I am enjoying the extra attention from their family and friends, too. Life is good!
Before I go, I have to say a very special thank-you to all the wonderful people who took such good care of me on my journey. First, a thank-you to my prior mom and her daughter for connecting me with Safe Place for Pets when I needed a new home and for taking me to Pikes Peak Veterinary Clinic for a check-up before I came to Safe Place. Another thank-you to Buxton Veterinary Hospital (Safe Place for Pets vet partner) for my vaccinations and dentistry, so I would be as healthy as possible when I started my new life–and for my new mom for bringing me to my dental appointment. Lastly, my new story would not have been possible without all the wonderful Safe Place for Pets volunteers, who cared for me as if I were their very own and made the very soft Snuggly fleece blanket and braided toy for me to enjoy in my new home.
Greetings, everyone! Eddie and Jesse here to let you know that we have “broken up” (so to speak). After we settled in at the Welcome Center (where we came to live while waiting for a new forever home since we lost our mom this past spring), we realized that we are no longer a bonded pair.
And I (Jesse) like a very calm and peaceful space, and I also love to give my person head rubs and soulful looks while I listen intently to whatever he or she is saying, which is music to my ears. And I think I have found my new forever home, too! I am currently “trying out” living with my cat sister from my prior home, Cathy the Maine Coon mix adopted this past August, and her new family. Cathy and I were so happy to see each other again, and our mom and dad are the best! I am voting to stay forever…and I think all 3 of them are, too. Hope I can share great news with you soon, once my adoption is a done deal!
I am 8 years old, spayed, and 8.5 pounds, with green eyes that just sparkle against her shiny black fur! Once I get to know you and am confident in my surroundings, I am outgoing and very affectionate. I am an indoor-only kitty, whose favorite lounging pose is on my back with all four paws in the air, basking in a sunny spot, of course. Let’s get together, so we can disprove all those silly black cat superstitions and have a happy life together! Contact Safe Place for Pets by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone (719-359-0201)—hope to meet you soon!
