Adoption Announcement – 12/8/2018
Hello!! You may have read the happy news my “sister” dog, Shorty (the white Havanese), recently shared, but now it’s my turn – I’m Muffin, a 10 year old Pomeranian, and I have also been adopted to the same incredible Mom as my sister, Shorty! We first came to Safe Place for Pets in September after my previous Dad passed away from cancer. Our new Mom fell in love with Shorty and I immediately and wanted to adopt us right away, but Shorty and I both had very high liver enzymes and needed serious dental work, but we couldn’t handle any anesthesia until our liver enzymes came down. Through lots of medications, special food, a very expensive procedure Safe Place for Pets paid for called an “echocardiogram,” and lots of patience, time and attention from our amazing Mom, Shorty and I were eventually healthy enough to have our much needed dental work and we are doing so great now!
Though we were both so very sad to lose our Dad and our home, life really is so fantastic with our loving new Mom…she really spoils us rotten!! Every sofa in the house has “doggy print” furniture covers and we have our own pillows for our Mom’s bed! We are safe, warm, well-cared for and so loved – what more could we ask for?! Did you know that most of the pets that come to Safe Place for Pets are senior pets that need a lot of healthcare, including lots of expensive dental procedures? If you can find it in your heart to help Safe Place for Pets continue to do the loving work they do for the pets of terminally ill people, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to them as well as telling your friends about their great work! http://www.safeplacepets.org/donate-indy-give/
THANK YOU for helping support this great all volunteer, non-profit who has worked for 22 years to help care for the beloved pets of terminally ill people, like Shorty and I, when our owners no longer could!
Safe Place for Pets would like to thank Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital and Dublin Animal Hospital (Safe Place for Pets partners) for all the care and dental work Shorty and Muffin received! We’d also like to say, “Thank you!” to April who cared for Shorty and Muffin after their Dad passed away while we worked to find their amazing new home! And finally, Safe Place for Pets is so grateful to Shorty and Muffin’s FANTASTIC new Mom and family for opening their hearts and home to these darling girls – and making such incredibly generous donations to our organization!! We wish you tons of tail wags, barks, puppy kisses, and “smurgles”!!
Adoption Announcement – 10/27/2018
Hello again, my name is “Shorty”! If it sounds funny to you it’s because my name used to be Sadie, but I was recently adopted into a wonderful forever home that already includes a dog named Sadie, so since I’m so small, my new Mom started calling me ‘Short Sadie,’ and now I’m just known as “Shorty”!! I’m a beautiful little thing, I must admit, and though I’m 10 years old, I look and play like a pup. You can tell from my photo that I have silky white hair and a bubbly personality! One of my favorite things is when people come over to visit us…oh boy! It’s so much fun when people come and play, and there’s excitement in the house!
I feel so lucky — I have a new ‘Sadie’ to play with AND my “sister” dog, Muffin the Pomeranian, who will get adopted very soon also, once her dental work has been completed like mine has been! We have a great house with a wonderful backyard, but mostly, I’m just so happy to be with my new Mom and my new forever family. Though it’s sad my loving Dad has passed away, there’s so much to be grateful for and I know wonderful days are here again!
Safe Place for Pets would like to thank Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital (a Safe Place for Pets partner!) for all the care and dental work Shorty received! And finally, Safe Place for Pets is so grateful to Shorty’s new Mom and family for opening their hearts and home to this precious girl – we wish you a wonderful, joyful life together!!
Adoption Bio – 8/10/2018
Hi there! We are Muffin (an 11-ish year old, female, spayed Pomeranian, weighing 10 lbs who lost an eye from a scuffle with a larger dog, but it looks good and doesn’t affect me one bit!) and Sadie (an 11-ish year old, female, spayed Havanese, weighing 7 lbs.) and we need a new, loving home together as we’ve been together our entire lives.
We are missing our beloved dad – a Vietnam Veteran who recently passed away and are hoping for a new family to love us. As if we are not cute enough, we are also incredibly loving and so sweet – we love everyone we meet! We are very energetic and seem much younger than you might think (Muffin is quite “talkative” while Sadie is very quiet). We love to go for walks and are very good on our double leash. We have been around other dogs, cats, and even kids, but since we are so small, it might be better for us to be with older or even no children just so we don’t accidentally get hurt.
Our dad was with most of the time – until he got so sick — so we’d love a home with family around a lot. We are good about using our doggie door and it’d be great to have one again in our new home, if possible. We both still have so much life in us and so much love to give so if you think we might be perfect for you, please give Safe Place for Pets a call at 719-359-0201, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out an Adoption Inquiry form under our profile. We hope to meet you soon!!
