Adoption Announcement – 9/17/2017

Hi, my name was Nick, but now it’s Podrick (or “Pod” for short!), after Podrick Payne on the TV show, Game of Thrones!

On the show, Pod is loyal and faithful so my new name fits me to a tee!  I am a very mellow and sweet gentleman and am incredibly content just hanging out with my new mom and dad!  After all, they so lovingly and willingly stepped in and gave me a wonderful home after my former mom passed away so I know they are going to be incredibly loyal to me!  My new mom works full time and is also a student so one of my favorite places is right next to her on the sofa while she does homework.  I love that time with her so much…snuggling up with her and taking a nice snooze – two of my favorite things!

When I’m not sleeping, I love to play ball in my huge backyard!  I also love to go for short walks (hey, I’m 10 and have really short legs!!) and see all the bunnies and squirrels!  I ride great in the car so mom and dad like to take me to Petsmart and to the dog park – I really don’t care too much about the other dogs – I really just love spending time with my family!  I have been camping and that was fun, but I do have to say, I really enjoy my home and my bed.  In fact, I’m not really a morning dog at all.  My mom gets up really early and tries to get me to get up with her and go outside, but I am not at all interested!  I’d much rather sleep in, but as soon as my dad’s feet hit the floor, I know it’s time to start the day!  I like to say, “Good morning!” by making my Chewbacca-like sounds, which they think is so funny!

I’m so thankful to Safe Place for Pets for helping me find my new mom and dad!  I know that we will be such a happy family!  When the lady with Safe Place thanked my mom and dad for opening their hearts and home to an older fellow like me, mom said I am, “the best boy and we couldn’t have been more blessed to have him rescue us.”  Isn’t my mom the BEST?!?!

Safe Place for Pets is very grateful to Pod’s wonderful foster, Karole, and to Buxton Veterinary Hospital (Safe Place for Pets vet partner) for their always incredible veterinary/dental care!  We’d also like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. McReynolds and staff at Southern Colorado Veterinary Internal Medicine for the ultrasound and additional care for Pod!  Thank you also to the volunteers for the snuggly fleece blanket – when he’s not lying on it, Pod likes to walk around the house with it on his back like a cape!  He is very noble after all so it makes sense!  Everyone at Safe Place for Pets wishes Pod and his parents so much love and joy!!
