Adoption Announcement – 6/18/2016
Sid, aka Sydney, has found his new forever home!
Sid traveled quite a road to get to us here in Manitou Springs. His original mom adopted him from the Humane Society in Reno, Nevada. She actually went to the HS to adopt a different cat, but when she saw Sid, he reminded her so much of the cat that she had just recently lost that she couldn’t resist him. He lived with her in Nevada until her Multiple Sclerosis progressed to the point where she had to move to Colorado Springs so that her sister could help support her. Of course Sid came with, and they eventually moved into a small apartment at an assisted living facility. Poor Sid was horrified when he lost her, but he responded very well to living in the SP4P Welcome Center in Manitou Springs and became quite outgoing. His new mom spotted him on the Safe Place website and decided that he was just what she wanted. Not only did she adopt Sid, she adopted a Corgi mix named Olivia on the same day! She reports that Sid is happy to cuddle and sleep with her and that he is getting along famously with his new sister, so her new blended family is working out just fine. And that is just what we love to see and hear!
Many thanks to Sid’s surrenderer for trusting her sister’s loyal companion to Safe Place and to Carefree Cats for letting her know that Safe Place could help her! Thanks also to Sid’s adopter for her greatly appreciated adoption donation! We would also like to thank Dayna Carnival, owner of Carnival Cat and Canine Care in Palmer Lake, for her generous donation of a beautiful cat tree for Sid to play on. And finally, many thanks to Cook Veterinary Hospital (a Safe Place for Pets veterinary partner) for ensuring Sid’s good health and readiness for his new forever home! Thank you, too, to Shandra, the Girl Scouts, and National Honor Society students for the Snuggly blanket for Sid to enjoy. We are so grateful to have such generous supporters. We couldn’t do it without you!
Adoption Bio – 3/31/2016
Hi! My name is Sid, short for Sydney. I’m not from Australia though, but I did live with my mom in Nevada until she got too sick and had to move here. I’m really sad, and kind of scared right now because I don’t understand why she had to leave me. I loved her a lot, and used to like to sit with her in her chair and in bed so that she could pet me and scratch my ears and chin. Once when she fell down and couldn’t get up, I went and stayed by her face so she would know that I was there and not be scared. I like to meet new people and to play. After all, I’m just six – practically a kitten! When we still lived in Nevada, there was a 10-year-old boy who used to visit me and play with me. I really loved that! You can see how beautiful I am – aren’t my green eyes beautiful and how about that adorable splotch on my chin? I’d love to have a new person to love and play with me. Won’t you come see me at the Safe Place Welcome Center and make me happy again? Pretty please?
