Louis

Louis came to Safe Place with his two sisters, Kitty & Minnie. These adorable littermates came to us in early September after their owner died following a long illness. During the last year of her life she was constantly in and out of the hospital , leaving the cats alone and frightened. Her sister did all she could, but the chaos was terribly difficult for the cats. The owner died alone, so they were subjected to the invasion of police, firefighters, and the coroner, which terrified them.

When they first came to us, they were extremely shy, huddling in the far back of their cubbies, all in one kitty condo if possible. But since then they have become more social and are showing us their personalities. They love each other very much, but do not appear to be bonded, so should be able to go to separate homes. They have been indoor cats all their lives. They were raised with two midsized dogs, but have never been exposed to children.

Hello, I’m Louis. I’m also about 8 pounds and a domestic shorthair with claws like Minnie, but instead of being black, I’m a brown tabby. Isn’t it funny how three such different looking could come from a single litter? I have to tell you that of the three of us, I have had the hardest time adjusting to all this change. As a matter of fact, I was so frightened that Mom’s sister and the Safe Place volunteer had to catch me with a live trap. That was no fun, let me tell you! But there was no way that I was coming out of hiding. I’m still happiest hiding in the far back part of my cubby behind a pillow so that no one can see me. But I don’t mind at all if you pull my pillow partly out to talk to me and pet me. And after a minute or two of that I will roll over on my side so you can more easily pet me and scratch my ears. It makes me so happy that I will actually start drooling! So you can see that with a little patience I will lose my shyness and become your loving little buddy. Do you think you might like to give it a try? If so, come down to the Welcome Center and say hello!
